    5.2.5.3.3 Ignition<\/h1>\n

    The ignition process shall be initiated immediately or within a time to be specified in the instruction handbook after the conclusion of the pre-purging stage.<\/p>\n

    Where the main burner is ignited by means of a pilot burner, the gas supply to the main burner shall be shut off during the pre-purge and ignition of the pilot burner. The automatic shut-off valve(s) of the main burner shall open only when the pilot burner flame has been proved.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    NOTE: Where air enriched with oxygen or oxygen alone is the oxidising agent for the combustion of a gas, (commonly called oxy\/fuel firing), then the ignition procedures and times for such systems may require specific additional design attention to ensure the equivalent levels of safety.<\/p>\n
