5.2.1.14 By-pass
By-passes shall not be fitted in parallel with any item of safety equipment.1)
This requirement shall not apply to valve proving systems (EN 1643) nor to system leak tightness checks on automatic shut-off valves.

1) Bypass lines around safety devices and gas pressure regulators must be avoided in any case. Preference must be given to multi-stream versions with operating and reserve streams.
