5.2.6.2 Low temperature equipment

Low temperature equipment fitted with a single burner shall be equipped with an automatic burner control system in accordance with 5.2.6.1.

For low temperature multiple burner equipment, each burner shall be equipped with an automatic burner control system.

Only one of the burners need be equipped with an automatic burner control system operating continuously provided that the burners guarantee stable combustion throughout the range of regulation, are on the same air/gas ratio control system and are arranged adjacent and in such a way that, if one of them is extinguished, it is re-ignited quickly and smoothly by the flame from the next burner.1) This procedure shall not apply to burners controlled by “on/off” systems.

The following chapters are printed with the permission of the DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V. (German Institute for Standardization). For the implementation of the DIN Standard, the version with the most recent issue date is deemed authoritative. This is available from Beuth Verlag GmbH, Burggrafenstrasse 6, 10787 Berlin, Germany.

Our note on this Standard:

1) From our point of view, this procedure should be used only in the case of long burners or surface burners and only if the burners are supervised on the burner end opposite to the ignition source (see also 5.2.5.3.4.3.).

For all other applications, we recommend separate supervision of each individual burner.
